Wow! Haven posted in awhile! Netherlands rock! They trashed Italy and France, the 2 world cup finalists, 3-0 & 4-1 respectively! My favourite goalkeeper in the squad is van der sar, defender will be van bronckhorst, midfielder will be sneijder, striker will be either van persie or van nistelrooy. Yay! Netherlands enter the quarter-finals! I'm sure they'll win the euro 2008! Nederlands FTW!!!

Peter Schmeichel's speech when he left United
"It's a monumental decision that has been coming for a long, long time. I have been thinking about it for a year now. I got to 33 and started thinking about how many years I had left. What's left for me after football? Stuff like that. You think about the rest of your life and I came to the conclusion that I couldn't really picture myself as anything other than a footballer. It's been such a big part of my life. It's taken me around the world. I have played massive games. But at the end of last season, when we knew we were going to play the champions league qualifier, it looked such a long year ahead. I knew then that I couldn't go on and on. I had to make a decision and make it early so I could give the club good notice. I thought I may as well go in and tell the chairman and manager what I was thinking about. Within a week we had made an agreement that I could go. The chairman knew the decision was made and nothing could reverse that. I also had a fantastic talk with the manager. He knew that he could not change my mind either and so we spent half an hour talking about our time together. It was fun."
"It's a decision that I will stick by. but I can tell you that it's been bloody tough to make. I am happy though. The relief is not today, the relief came when I told the manager and the chairman. It wasn't until Wednesday night that it hit me: Will people understand my reasons for leaving? I hope they do. I didn't look at Eric Cantona's decision to retire. This is my decision, made for me. Everything comes to an end."
"I believe you have a capacity as a footballer and that you can play only so many games. You can't go on and on. I could have played on but I might have only been able to play only another two years. Now, maybe I can go on for four years. I've been weighing up all the pros and cons for months. I've gone through it all, made the decision and I feel it's the right one. I'm not happy to be leaving United. It's the ultimate place to play football and I've enjoyed every minute. But it's time to move on. I want to keep going but in an environment where I will have time to prepare between games. I don't feel like 34, I still feel I'm 25 and I can do a lot of things. Once I get going, I feel good. I still feel I'm quick. It's not as if I feel I'm stiff and getting slow. When I knew we were going to play in the Champions League qualifier, it seemed like such a long year, especially after the world cup. I knew then that I was not going to get any holidays and I certainly need more than 12 days. It is a simple fact that it is harder for me to maintain the same high standards as it is for the younger players."
"I have tried to be loyal to United and I haven't looked for another club. I'm jumping out here, no safety net, which is a challenge. I'm going to sit back and see if anything comes up. I could go back to Brøndby, to other clubs in Denmark or maybe Holland or Russia. I'd be lying if I said I was going to a club that would not be playing in Europe. Most leagues play from September to June and their only midweek games are in Europe. You get loads of space to do all the physical work. Ask any player my age and it is difficult to keep going, but it's not impossible. I want to play football in an environment where I will have time to prepare between games so I can actually train rather than just recover. That's what makes it so difficult to keep up the standards I have set playing for Manchester United and it's a situation that's going to get worse in England."

O Yea, 1j to 1l in the second leg 1 to 0. How sad. Defensive lapse. I got a chance to score, but no talent in shooting so shot direct at keeper. Siyu took a penalty n i took the rebound. If I had scored, it would be my first goal in an inter-class match since I came into RI. Guess I'll have to wait a bit longer!
